We worship a very different kind of king. We worship a wounded king. We worship a wounded God.
This passage speaks of issues such as infant mortality, access to healthcare, affordable housing, economic justice, and the end of violence. If these issues sound political, it’s because they are.

It’s interesting, isn’t it, to celebrate today’s witness of unity when we don’t feel particularly unified as a nation?
We don’t fight with the fierce fear of Pharaoh. We fight, instead, with righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. That is the good fight of faith. But, you know what, that’s really hard to do.
Saint Augustine himself said of this parable, and I quote, “I can’t believe this story came from the lips of our Lord.”
